The Fastest Way to Transform a Kitchen
Cabinets account for roughly half of what you see in a kitchen. Changing them — or even just resurfacing them — has an outsized impact on how the room looks and feels. That is why we offer three distinct paths: custom builds for homeowners who want something one-of-a-kind, refacing for those who love their layout but want a new look, and refinishing for kitchens that just need a refresh.
Every option includes soft-close hinges and drawer glides as standard. We never cut corners on hardware — it is the thing you touch a hundred times a day. Back to our main kitchen remodeling page.

Built to Fit Your Kitchen Exactly
Stock cabinets come in standard sizes. Your kitchen probably does not. Custom cabinetry lets us build to the exact dimensions of your walls, ceiling height, and appliance layout — no filler strips, no wasted space. We offer shaker, flat-panel, and raised-panel door styles in painted and stained finishes. Every cabinet is built with plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, and soft-close hardware included.
"John and his Sons did a FANTASTIC job totally remodeling our entire 1600 sq ft daylight basement including a new kitchen in Lawrenceville, GA. From bringing in a huge dumpster and demolishing the old kitchen to helping me design what I wanted for our new downstairs kitchen including a beautiful granite bar."

If your cabinet boxes are structurally sound, refacing gives you a brand-new look without the cost or disruption of a full tear-out. We replace all doors and drawer fronts, apply matching veneer to exposed box surfaces, and install new hinges and pulls. The result is a kitchen that looks completely new in a fraction of the time — most refacing jobs are finished in under a week.
"John and his team were great to work with. Great communication, excellent attention to detail, fair pricing, made sure the job was done in a timely manner. Would highly recommend."

Sometimes all your cabinets need is a professional refinish. We strip, sand, prime, and apply factory-quality paint or stain to your existing doors and frames. It is the most budget-friendly option and it produces results that last — no peeling, no brush marks, no shortcuts. Painted cabinets in white, gray, or navy are the most requested finishes we install.
"John Tidwell and Sons renovated our master bathroom and placed all new windows in our home. They did an excellent job! They were professional, trustworthy, came on time, and did all work as agreed."

Soft-Close, Pull-Outs & Organization
New cabinets deserve hardware that performs. We install soft-close hinges and drawer glides on every project — custom, refaced, or refinished. Beyond the basics, we add pull-out trash cans, lazy susans, spice rack inserts, and vertical tray dividers that turn dead corners into usable storage. These small upgrades make a bigger difference in daily life than most homeowners expect.
"I have worked with John Tidwell and sons for about 10 years....they are detail oriented on time and they are great at "making things work" when those little issues arise in renovations."
See our profileJohn Tidwell & Sons did a wonderful job finishing my basement. John was very knowledgeable and made my 800 square foot unfinished basement an excellent addition to the house. They did everything - floors, ceilings, soffits, walls, sheetrock, framing, insulation, electrical, and painting. I couldn't be happier with the finished product.
Kitchen Cabinet FAQ
Open a few cabinet doors and check the boxes. If the plywood or particle board is solid, the joints are tight, and there is no water damage, refacing is a great option. If the boxes are warped, delaminating, or you want to change the layout, replacement is the better path.
Shaker-style doors continue to dominate because they work with both traditional and modern kitchens. We also see growing demand for flat-panel doors in painted finishes for a clean, contemporary look.
With quality materials and proper installation, refaced cabinets last as long as new ones — 15 to 20 years or more. We use rigid thermofoil or real wood veneer, not peel-and-stick film.
Yes. We can retrofit soft-close hinges and drawer glides onto your existing cabinets even if you are not doing a full reface or refinish. It is one of the most affordable upgrades we offer.
We can. If you are adding an island or extending your cabinet run, we will match the door style, finish, and hardware as closely as possible so the new additions blend seamlessly with the originals.
